New Vegetarian - Working Hard

Wow!

It's been a while since I have gotten a chance to report my diet. Please forgive me.

For the past four days, I have mostly been eating pizza (when I got a chance to eat).

Being on the Job, I am trying to find a finger food, here are my attemts:

I guess I need to just stick with the fruits.

Hear are a bag of Plantain Chips.

In the mornings I have had banana, orange, and the Organic toaster pastry.

This morning I had 2 eggs and cheese, on wheat bread, from the corner Deli.

Okay,

I am going on 1year and 1month of being sick free.

My living situation and work situation has changed drasticly. I hope I can keep up my Health.

My diet is currently still off track, from what I am use to; but I hope to get back into some routine SOON.

I plan to have more details, links, better pictures, receipes, and other interesting vegetarian content up soon.

Best Wishes & Good Eating

New Vegetarian - Quick Bit

Hey Guys!

I have finally got to my destination, but have not settled in yet. So, my diet and schedule is still crazy.

Please bare with me. I should be getting back into the swing of things soon.

Today I didn't eat much. So, there is not that much to report. But I did go get a pizza pie. Cheeze pizza.

It was great. Pizza is my favorite. Simple and to the point.

I was so hungry I had taken a few bites before I took the picture. :P

I asked for extra sauce on the side. They gave me a whole bowl. It was great. Warm and everything.
Oh yeah, this slice was only $1.85. I really appreciated that. Great price, Great slice. :)

Will get back to Ya soon.

Take care & Good Eating.

New Vegetarian - On the Road

Okay, being on the road has done a number on my diet. I stopped in Charlotte, NC to see my aunt and cousin, and broke the news of my new found vegetarianism. Their fridge was not ready for that. So, my aunt, so kindly, suggest my cousin take me out to eat.

I thought, any place would be okay, and that it wouldn’t be a big deal; but I quickly found out, that not every place has vegetarian alternatives. We originally were going to TGI Fridays. I figured, I’d just order the loaded potato skins, without the bacon, and, maybe a side veggie or salad.

We ended up at and let me tell you:

It was very difficult to find something without MEAT in it.

I ended up getting "fried cheese sticks" as they call it.
Which are suppose to look like but after a few, looked like
My cousin and I couldn't finish them.

I also tried, the potato soup (which came with bacon on it). The waiter did not pick up on the fact that I was trying to avoid meat, because I am a vegetarian. So, no picture of that.

But, I did get a ceaser salad, which happened to be pretty good. It wasn't bad.
I asked for the dressing (blue cheese) on the side. This salad had tomatoes, lettuce, croutons and Parmesan cheese.

Cranberry Juice was the drink of choice.

Including my Cousins Iced Tea, this bill came out to be just under $20.00 bucks.

This overall experience was a bit disappointing. The product was not worth the price. And, this is definitely not a place for Vegetarians.

Needless to say, I had a stomach ache the rest of the night.

New Vegetarian - Light Morning

This morning: Oatmeal and Tea

I learned something last night!

On http://www.americanheart.org/ "Vegetarian Diets"

What is a vegetarian diet?
Some people follow a "vegetarian" diet, but there's no single vegetarian eating pattern. The vegan or total vegetarian diet includes only foods from plants: fruits, vegetables, legumes (dried beans and peas), grains, seeds and nuts. The lactovegetarian diet includes plant foods plus cheese and other dairy products. The ovo-lactovegetarian (or lacto-ovovegetarian) diet also includes eggs. Semi-vegetarians don't eat red meat but include chicken and fish with plant foods, dairy products and eggs

So, it looks like, I am a ovo-lactoVegetarian by these guide lines. I don't eat any meat but still have cheese, milk, and eggs.

New Vegetarian - After Noon Small Lunch

Hey there!

As time goes on my situation will become more apparent to you readers as you get to know me.

It has been a bit over a full year, since I have gotten sick. This, for me, is un heard of. I am not exactly sure why or how I have been able to ward off all the colds and flu and other illnesses that have been around me; but maybe it has something to do with my diet. Not getting sick for a whole year, is great. I am very thankful.

So, this is another reason why I want to share what I am eating with others. Maybe, this could help you to stay more healthy too.

Everyone’s body is different, so, each person needs to do what feels right for them.

BACK TO THE MAIN ISSUE AT HAND:

My small lunch was just some eggs on wheat bread (in essence).

The Eggs I chose are from cage free chickens. The Wheat Bread is 100% Natural 100%Stone Ground (so the wrapping says). I also put some Silk soy milk and some seasonings in the egg mixture.

The Ingredients of EARTH GRAINS whole wheat bread begin this way: stone ground whole wheat flour, water, bulgur wheat, brown sugar, wheat gluten, yeast, raisin juice concentrate...

When I first transitioned into Vegetarianism, I also started to cut out breads. I tried the bread alternative, tortillas (which worked out for a short term), but after some research, was able to get some bread back into the diet.

I will try to get some links to the sources of my information in blogs to come.

But, in the meantime, what I found was: enriched flour, or enriched anything is not the healthiest. They say, this means, the flour has been through so much processing that they had to put stuff back into it.

It has been a few week, since I have read that specific tidbit of information, but I will be sure to get more detailed as time goes by, and as I stated before, I will also add the link to that researched material for you to read for yourself.

As, I am on the road now, these meals are not as full as they would be when I am at my home. So, please bare with me, as I hope to build a positive influence with my new found blogging venture.

Healthy Eats Everyone,

New Vegetarian - Morning on the Go

Good AfterNoon :)

This morning, I got a late start, so I
needed something real quick to eat.
Green Tea is a regular occurrence in my daily diet. I like the Celestrial Seasonings Brand. After careful inspection of ingredients of all available Teas in my local food market. The Celestrial Seasonings brand was the best. (As far as my current research dictates.) It says to be 100% Natural and contains Caffeine (which I need in the early morning, for a little boost). The Goji Berry Pomegranate flavor, is not bad. I used regular pure white sugar this morning, but I usually go with the Organic Brown or Brown Sugar (which you will see as we go along).

The Benefits of Green Tea and the fruit Pomegranate are pretty popular.

For those whom to not know the great benefits of these, I will leave some links and more info as time goes on, in my blogs to come. :)

In addition to my Tea, I had a Healthy version of PoP Tarts. :)

This healthy version of a Toaster Pastry is from Nature's Path. It is ORGANIC! Organic is suppose to be good for you, right off the bat.

The box has a USDA Organic stamp on the front.

On the side it states: Low Sodium, Zero Trans Fats, and Vegetarian.

A few of the ingredients read: organic wheat flour, organic evaporated cane juice invert, organic palm oil, organic evaporated can juice, organic brown sugar, organic whole wheat flour...

The total fat is 4.5g saturated fat is 3g sodium 125mg total carbohydrate 39g dietary fiber 1g sugars 20g protein 3g

I thought this was an okay, very quick, breakfast snack.

The New Vegetarian - Intro

Hello!

I am excited to be here.

Starting this blog has been an idea of mine for the past 4 weeks now, and I finally figured out how to start this new venture. :)

Please bare with me as I get the hang of this.

So, down to the issue at hand.

New Vegetarians!

I have been meat free, since, about the second week of January. This, for me, was not a pre meditated decision. My desire for eating meat suddenly disappeared without any warning. Seafood was the first to go. Then Beef and Pork. Then Chicken was the last. I still like and crave to eat Eggs, Cheese, and Milk.

Eating healthy has always been a conscious effort for me. I read all of the ingredients in almost everything I buy and eat out only on occasion.

Having a small budget, also factors in many of my eating habits.

I hope my expressions, through this blogging, will help others in their exploration of vegetarianism and/or expose others to the valuable and useful information that I have found useful in executing a healthy diet.

I will be sharing my cooking creations in my new found vegetarian diet. You will find I use Organic ingredients and creative alternatives.

It is soooooo hard to eat healthy now a days. There are so many junk foods, and GMOs in almost all of the foods stocked in our super markets.

Please excuse my mis spellings as I hope to improve on my accuracy as I grow with my blogging.

I wish the best health to everyone and Good Eats!

In my next blog: Let's get Started

:)
